Atrim Stick can be used to diagnose and debug Z-Wave issues with freely available software from Silicon Labs.

How to setup Simplicity Studio 5 and PC Controller 5
Previously known as Zensys Tools 5, you can use PC Controller 5 as diagnostic, debug, and testing tool for any Z-Wave product. While a rudimentary piece of software, PC Controller 5 will expose elements of how your Z-Wave network is communicating, and let you control and test specific functions of any Z-Wave product on the network, that other software typically does not.
- Create a free account with Silicon Labs.
- Silicon Labs will send an email to confirm and activate your account; follow the steps emailed to your chosen email address.
- Login to your Silicon Labs' account if not automatically logged in.
- Download Simplicity Studio 5 for the operating system you are using. While Simplicity Studio 5 is available for multiple platforms, including macOS, please note that PC Controller 5 is only available for Microsoft Windows at the time of writing this guide. This guide focuses solely on Windows accordingly.
- Mount SimplicityStudio-5.iso as a virtual drive.
- Install Simplicity Studio 5.
- Open Simplicity Studio 5 if it does not automatically load.
- Login to Simplicity Studio with your Silicon Labs account. If you skip login, the necessary Z-Wave tools will remain unavailable to you.
- Wait for Simplicity Studio to finish its setup.
- Click on 'Install by technology type (wireless, Xpress, MCU, sensors)'.
- Click the '32-bit and Wireless MCU' checkbox.
- Click 'Next'.
- Select 'Auto'.
- Click 'Next'.
- Restart Simplicity Studio when prompted by clicking 'OK'.
- Read and agree to the license agreement.
- Click 'Next'.
- During the installation process, Windows may prompt you to accept some system and / or software changes. Accept / click 'yes' when prompted.
- Restart Simplicity Studio when prompted by clicking 'OK'.
The installation of Simplicity Studio 5 and PC Controller 5 is now complete.
Access PC Controller 5
- Ensure that your Atrim Stick is plugged in and setup. It will need to be part of the network you wish to diagnose, either as the main controller or as a secondary controller.
- Open Simplicity Studio 5.
- Click on Tools in the menu row.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list that appears.
- Click on 'PC Controller'.
- Click 'OK'.
